The 5th Vienna Music Business Research Days will be held at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna from Oct 1-3, 2014. A mixed group of music business professionals and music business researcher will highlight the question on “How to Monetize Music in the Digital Age” from different perspectives. All conference guest that will present/discuss on Oct 2, 2014 in Joseph Haydn-Hall will be introduced in a short blog series.
Elke Schüßler, Assistant Professor at the Department of Management of Free University Berlin, will talk on “Regulatory Uncertainty and Business Model Innovation: The (Un)Used Potential of Music Industry Events” in Joseph Haydn-Hall from 15:00-15:45 on Oct 2nd.
She does research and teaches on issues of management, focusing especially on dynamics of globalization, digitalization and climate change and the development of new forms of value creation. A particular interest revolves around the governance of organizations and interorganizational relationships on regional, national and transnational levels and the tension between path dependence and creativity in organizational and institutional change.
She has recently co-edited a Special Issue on digital technology and creative industries in Technological Forecasting and Social Change (LINK: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0040162514000134) and a book on new forms of value creation in the music industry (LINK: http://www.transcript-verlag.de/978-3-8376-2256-0/akustisches-kapital). She is the winner of the VHB Best Paper Award 2014 for her innovative research on UN climate conferences as field-configuring events (LINK: http://amj.aom.org/content/57/1/140.abstract ).
